Participants in the Arab Aviation Summit called?in Doha?Sunday for a unified stance ahead of the UN- sponsored climate change conference to be held in Copenhagen next month, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
At the closing session, representatives of Arab countries participating in the two-day conference reiterated the need for the formation of a high-level ad hoc committee to follow up the Copenhagen conference and take all necessary measures to protect the interests of Arab aviation companies.
The attendants also underlined the necessity to guarantee that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) should be the only competent body to deal with the civil aviation from environmental perspective.
Participants in the Arab Aviation Summit, which kicked off in Doha on Saturday, rejected at the opening session the European emissions trade scheme, warning that any extra burdens to aviation companies could be counterproductive.
