California will host the third annual Governors' Global Climate Summit in mid-November in an effort to push "green" economic development, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Press Office said Tuesday.
The summit, under the theme of "Building the Green Economy," is scheduled for Nov. 15-16 at the University of California in Davis, California, the office said.
"This year's summit will continue to expand the network of subnational collaboration to share policies and strategies on how to stimulate economic growth, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, create green jobs, promote clean energy solutions and reduce greenhouse gas pollution," the office said.
Participants will work on deepening and broadening cooperative efforts to develop green economies and implement emissions reduction strategies, it said.
The summit will be hosted by Schwarzenegger, in partnership with the United Nations Development Program and United Nations Environment Program and co-sponsored by the University of California, the office said.
