Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission of Discipline Inspection, Ma Wen, vowed that China will show no mercy in its fight against corruption, and will also continue to encourage integrity in government.
Ma Wen is also China's Minister of Supervision, and Director of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention. She spoke earlier with a CCTV reporter.
Ma Wen, Minister of Supervision, said, "China's supervision organs will strengthen their functions in the following three major areas. Firstly, we must conscientiously carry out inspection and supervision on the execution of important policies and arrangements of the central government. Secondly, we must pay close attention to problems concerning people's basic interests, such as environment protection, quality of food and medicine, workplace safety and so on. Thirdly, we must step up efforts in tackling abuse of power for personal gains, misconduct and dereliction of duty, bribery, graft and embezzlement. Investigation and supervision should be strengthened especially regarding high-ranking officials."
