So-called '2005 consensus' twisted facts
Adjust font size:

The truth that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan reached consensus about the relations across the Taiwan Straits in 1992 cannot be denied, said a mainland official Wednesday.

Fan Liqing, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said the Taiwan authorities recently fabricated the so-called "2005 consensus", which twisted the facts.

"There is no gainsaying the fact that the two sides made the 1992 consensus," she said.

The 1992 consensus saw both sides recognize that there is only one China, but agreed to differ on its definition.

4 agricultural zones for Taiwan farmers

Fan announced Wednesday that the Chinese mainland is to kick off four agricultural zones exclusively for entrepreneurial farmers from Taiwan.

The four zones are the Yongfu Park in Zhangping, Fujian Province, the Jinwan Park in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, the Huangpi Park in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the Xishan Park in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, spokeswoman Fan Liqing said.

Doctors from Taiwan allowed to work in mainland

Taiwan physicians with at least five years of experiences will be allowed to work in the Chinese mainland, a spokesman with the Ministry of Health said at the press conference.

Taiwan doctors applying for jobs in the mainland must have physician certificate and at least five years of experiences by the end of 2007, said Health Ministry spokesman Mao Qun'an.

They must be doctors currently working in local medical institutions, Mao added.

Favorable?measures to Taiwan children's education

More favorable measures will be offered to aid Taiwan compatriots' children to attend schools or kindergartens on the Chinese mainland, according to the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Liu Jianfeng, an official with the office, said compatiots' children can go to any public or private schools, or vocational schools authorized by local governments.

The children will be treated on an equal footing with mainland children with regard to fees and upgrading qualifications, Liu said.
