Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has voiced his country's willingness to make joint efforts with Canada, New Zealand and Australia to boost bilateral ties with each of the three nations.

Yang, who is in the Peruvian capital for the annual Leaders' Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, met with his Canadian counterpart Lawrence Cannon on Saturday.

At the meeting, Yang said both sides should take care of the interests and concerns of each other and deal with sensitive issues in a suitable way.

China is willing to join hands with Canada to strengthen dialogue and contact and enhance understanding, trust and cooperation, he said. Both sides should try to tap the potential and further push forward bilateral ties, he added.

Cannon said Canada is willing to strengthen cooperation with China, increase high-level visits and boost cooperation on bilateral and international issues.

Canada appreciates China's active role in coping with the financial crisis, he added.

At a meeting with New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully on Saturday, Yang said the Chinese government has always treated bilateral ties with New Zealand from a strategic and long-term perspective.

China is willing to closely cooperate with the New Zealand government to maintain the good momentum for the exchange of high-level visits and promote practical cooperation, he said.

The minister also voiced China's willingness to boost bilateral communication and coordination on international and regional affairs.

McCully said the New Zealand government attaches great importance to its ties with China and hopes to enhance high-level exchanges.

New Zealand will make efforts to implement the free trade agreement with China and promote cooperation in such fields as agriculture, forestry, environmental protection and education.

During a meeting with his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith on Thursday, Yang hailed the latest achievements in bilateral ties, especially development in cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and environmental protection.

He also noted the close communication and coordination between the two sides on such international and regional affairs as the financial crisis.

China is willing to work together with Australia to enhance the mutually beneficial all-round cooperation between the two countries, he said.

Smith, for his part, said Australia will actively boost negotiations with China on a free trade agreement and welcome investments from Chinese enterprises.

He also said the first strategic dialogue between the two countries in February was successful and economy and trade cooperation is booming.

All three foreign ministers reiterated their countries' adherence to the one-China policy.
