—— Excerpt from China's National Games opens amid grand ceremony
After China adopted the policy of 'reform and opening-up', the National People's Congress promulgated 'the Sports Law' in 1995, and in the same year, the State Council approved 'the National Fitness Program'. In the January of 2009, the State Council approved that August 8th of each year since 2009 would be designated as 'National Fitness Day'. In September of 2009, the State Council promulgated 'the National Fitness Regulations'. It is the first comprehensive and systematic administrative law specially designed for the development of mass sport in China, a significant mark that the national fitness undertaking in our country is now more legalized and standardized.
