People behind "Founding of A Party" are upbeat about box office predictions for the movie. According to its two directors, the movie's biggest draw lies in the authentic historic background it is based on.
On Wednesday night, Huang Jianxin and Han Sanping, directors of the movie "Founding of a Party" visited a couple of cinemas in Beijing, collecting audience's feedback after the premiere. They concluded that many spectators were stricken by seeing a genuine piece of Chinese revolutionary history.
Han Sanping said, "The script has been assessed by some one hundred experts and historians. Another one hundred experts were involved in the production of the movie. So I dare say you can hardly find any major mistake."
The movie has gathered a long list of top actors in China.
One of the founding fathers of the Chinese Communist Party, Mao Zedong, is played by Chinese actor Liu Ye, best known for his roles in the Zhang Yimou imperial drama "Curse of the Golden Flower".
Directors confirmed it is an appropriate choice.
Huang Jianxin said, "Liu Ye's appearance is relatively the most close to Mao Zedong. He has successfully sculpted Mao Zedong in his youth. The character is so real, nothing like the conceptualized Mao Zedong in former movies."
From its 2009 predecessor "Founding of A Republic" to this new production, the directors said they have been encouraged by the audience's recognition and anticipation. And they will surely continue their exploration of adapting historic legends for the big screen.
