Apple has unveiled its new iPad with a high-definition screen, the BBC reported.

The new iPad also features a 5-megapixel camera sensor. It will be able to run on 4G- LTE networks where service is available and can act as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices if carriers allow the function.

The basic 16GB model with only Wi-Fi will cost $499 and the top of the range 64GB model with Wi-Fi and 4G will cost $629.

It is due to go on sale March 16 in the UK, US, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Japan.
