Motorists worried about knocking down distracted pedestrians should keep their eyes particularly open at 8.38am each morning, the Daily Mail reported.
For that is the specific time when people crossing the road -- usually heading to work -- are concentrating more on their smart-phones and other electronic gadgets than on the traffic around them.
Instead of watching out for cars as they cross, they are too busy phoning, texting, tweeting, surfing the internet, playing games or even updating their Facebook accounts.
