The Olympic torch relay has concluded in the US city of San Francisco.
Chinese Olympic swimming champion Lin Li, who was the first runner in the relay, began her run by holding the torch high and waving to a cheering crowd. Thousands of people gathered along the route to show their support for the torch run in the US city, which is the sixth leg of the relay's global journey.
Supporters of China's role as host of the Games waved Chinese national flags and displayed Beijing Olympic mascots on the city's waterfront. At one point, protestors attempted to sabotage the Olympic relay by trying to grab the torch, but they were pushed back by police. The next stop for the Olympic torch is Buenos Aires of Argentina in South America.
