In the fourth round of the Rio de Janeiro state championship, Flamengo defeated Americano by the score of 3-2 on Wednesday.
With goals from Adriano and Vagner Love, Flamengo secured their fourth straight win in the tournament on the night of Petkovic's 150th career game with the team.
The game's first goal came off a penalty kick when Adriano pounded the ball into the left side of the net in the 40th minute. Flamengo doubled the lead when Fernando tapped in a cross ball from Petkovic before the first half whistle.
Americano scored their first goal of the game in the 80th minute when Diego Sales fooled the Flamengo goalkeeper Bruno and found the back of the net. One minute later, however, Love scored Flamengo's third goal.
Americano scored once more in stoppage time when Itacare cut through the defense to tap in a cross ball from Patrick.
"We are trying to find our rhythm and a goal like today showed that we are getting closer and have all the right conditions to make a perfect pair. I saw that there was plenty of space and we ended up making a perfect give and go. I hope that the fans of Flamengo will fill our home stadium on Sunday in order to cheer for us and witness the same result," Love said of his goal and Flamengo's upcoming match against Fluminense on Sunday.
