Lee Jung-su of South Korea won his second gold medals in the men's short track speed skating 1,000m final at the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games?in Vancouver?on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Lee, winner in the men's 1,500m here, added one more gold in his pocket as he beat compatriot Lee Ho-suk with an Olympic record time of one minute and 23.747 second, just 0.054 seconds ahead of Lee Ho-suk.
"I am very happy. This is my first medal after the accident (falling in the men's 1500 m final)," said the silver medalist.
"I knew I can't make the same mistake again, so I was really careful in all the competitions after. I realised again today how hard it is to get that Olympic medal."
Apolo Anton Ohno of the United States, the silver medalist in 1,500m, also happily took the bronze at 1:24.128, becoming the most decorated American Winter Olympian with a total of seven medals including two golds.
"It feels amazing. It's my third Olympic Games. There's no other athlete here who has done that," said Ohno.
"It's possibly my last Olympic Games," he added.
In the final, Charles Hamelin and his brother Francois Hamelin set the crowd alight by leading through the heart of the race but the South Korean skaters and Ohno were too strong and made definitive moves over the last few laps.
"With the two Canadian brothers in the front, my strategy was just to advance," said Lee Jung-su.
"Once I advanced to the front, all I could think of was just staying there," he added.
