Nearing the ten year anniversary of Gustavo Kuerten's Masters Cup win in Lisboa against Andre Agassi, both athletes entered negotiations on Sunday.
The retired former number one players of tennis are planning to play a charity match to commemorate the Brazilian's win ten years ago.
The match is expected to take place in December 2010. Kuerten hopes to hold the match in his hometown of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina. However, the city of Rio de Janeiro has also been mentioned.
During their professional careers, Kuerten and Agassi faced off eleven times. Agassi won seven matches while Kuerten won four.
During his career, Agassi was ranked the world number one men's tennis player for 101 weeks. Kuerten is the only Brazilian to ever have held the top spot, ranking first place of the ATP for 43 weeks.
