Two Myanmar female boxers will compete in Women's World Boxing Championships to be held in Bridgetown, Barbados next month, the Myanmar Boxing Federation (MBF) said on Tuesday.
Hnin Moh Moh Naing and Kyu Kyu Thin will take part in 51kg and 45-48kg divisions in head gear and 10-ounce gloves respectively in the tournament scheduled for Sept. 9 to 18.
The two women athletes, who grabbed silver and bronze medals at 2005, 2007 and 2009 SEA Games, have been trained a lot both mentally and physically for the event by MBF.
The bouts will consist of four rounds of two minutes each with one minute to rest between rounds.
Hundreds of boxers across the world, aged between 19 and 34 will compete in 10 weight categories: 45-48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, +81kg.
This year's event is likly to include two-time world champion and 2008 International Boxing Association (AIBA) Women's Boxer of the Year Katie Taylor (Ireland), along with four-time 46kg world champion Mary Kom (Inida), and Canada's two-time world champions Mary Spencer and Arianne Fortin.
