The Xiamen International Marathon (XMIM) Organization Committee said on Saturday that the 2011 XMIM will start network registration on Sunday and the on-site registration will begin on November 1.
The 2011 XMIM will be held on January 2, 2011, and will include four categories of international marathon, wheel-chair half marathon, 10km skating competition and the cross-strait city marathon Tournament.
The number of participants will reach 80,000 for the first time in the history, namely 30,000 more than that of last term, including 50 to 100 in the wheel-chair half marathon, and 300 to 500 in the skating competition and the cross-strait city marathon.
To encourage the disabled, the organizing committee will host the wheel-chair half marathon, with an award of 10,000 RMB (about 1,498 US dollars) for both men and women winners.
While other awards will be raised from 30,000 US dollars to 40,000 US dollars, an additional one million US dollars will be handed over to the wold record breaker.
The XMIM, initiated in 2003, becomes one of the two leading marathon competitions in China.
