Top ranked Rafael Nadal will skip next week's Paris Masters due to tendinitis in his arm, said the event organizers aon Friday.
The Spaniard's top seeding at the Bercy arena will be taken by Roger Federer.
Nadal has not played since losing to Austrian Jurgen Melzer in the Shanghai Masters second round three months ago.
"I am very unhappy for not playing this year at the Paris-Bercy event," Nadal said in a statement, "Due to a small tendinitis on my left arm, I have to stay six or seven days resting."
However, Nadal said he would be in attendance on Monday to meet with the media and fans in Paris.
