Next year's Italian Super Cup will take place in China and Beijing's Olympic Stadium, the Bird Nest, will be the first-choice venue, promoters said on Tuesday.
Liu Jun, vice director of the Beijing Football Administration Center, said that the match is most likely to be held in the Bird Nest stadium if there is no disagreement on rent and grass conditions.
Last year's Italian Super Cup between Lazio and Inter Milan was held in the Bird Nest on August 8, the first anniversary of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
This year's Super Cup between Inter and Roma was originally scheduled at the Bird Nest on Aug. 21 but eventually took place in Rome because European champion Inter refused to come citing that they would have to play the European Super Cup.
But the cancellation will not affect the deal which allows China to host the Italian Super Cup three times from 2011 to 2014.
Pomoters in Beijing agreed to spend 50 million yuan (7.3 million U.S. dollars) on each match,
"A meeting of Serie A has accepted the offer from China to play the next three Super Cups in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou," Italian league president Maurizio Beretta said last year.
Beretta said holding the cup in China next year works well because there is no World Cup or European Championship, meaning players should be more rested for a long trip.
The annual Super Cup each August pits the Serie A champion against the Italian Cup winner.
