Former NBA player Stephon Marbury celebrated his birthday with mixed feelings as his team Foshan lost to Liaoning 66-67 on Sunday while his former NBA teammates were enjoying the All-Star night.
Although the 34-year-old Marbury tried hard with 23 points, Foshan lost to Liaoning 66-67.
Shortly before the match, Marbury was given a birthday party by his teammates.
"Though we lost the game, but for me it is a sweet day, I had never thought the club would make a party for me, and with that power I nearly saved the team," he said.
Marbury then revealed his three wishes when blowing out the candles, "I wish I can play long in the basketball court; I wish the world will stay far from war and starvation; I wish I will be known by more Chinese fans."
The two-time NBA All-Star player came to China to play for Shanxi in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in January 2010. He left for Foshan in December 2010.
