Up to the world to catch up with China

Badminton World Federation Deputy President Paisan Rangsikitpho said on Sunday the association will not make any changes to the rules, even though China have dominated the last three Sudirman Cup competitions and are favourites to win again this year.
Rangsikitpho, who is in Qingdao, China, for the 2011 Double Star BWF Sudirman Cup World Mixed Team Championships, said it was up to the other nations to find a way to stop China.
"I don't see any need to change the rules as BWF always want the best players playing in our competitions. China may be dominating the team events like the Sudirman Cup, Thomas Cup and Uber Cup but as we saw last year, Korea managed to upset them in the Uber Cup," said Rangsikitpho.
"In the individual events, there is no doubting the Chinese women are very strong but the competition in the men's singles and doubles is quite open."
Meanwhile, Rangsikitpho revealed Australia and Malaysia are in the running to host the 2012 Sudirman Cup with a decision expected to be made in December.
On why the European nations are lagging behind Asian countries, Rangsikitpho said money played a big part as the Europeans focussed on the more lucrative sports such as tennis and football.
"BWF on our part, are trying very hard to increase the prize money in our sport. I'm sure once we can match the amount being paid in tennis or football, you will see more and more Europeans making a bigger impact."
