Sunderland have completed the signing of John O'Shea on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, revealed the defender's former club Manchester United on Thursday.
O'Shea, 30, became the fifth former Man. United player on the Black Cats' playing staff, joining Phil Bardsley, Kieran Richardson, Fraizer Campbell and West Brown.
The 31-year-old defender Brown completed his move earlier on Thursday. He also agreed a four-year deal with Sunderland.
Brown spent 15 years as a professional at Old Trafford but made only four Premier League starts last season.
"Last season, I couldn't get into the team and that was frustrating but that's football and you move on," said Brown.
O'Shea started his career at Old Trafford in 1998 and has made 393 appearances for the Red Devils.
The Irishman remained a key squad player and played his part in Man. United's title success of 2010-2011 season to earn a fifth Premier League winners' medal.
