China's speed skating team has landed in hot water again after a fight broke out between manager Wang Chunlun and drunken members of the team.
Last month, a group of skaters, including Olympic champions Wang Meng and Zhou Yang, fought local security guards in Lijiang, a popular tourist destination in Yunnan Province where the team was celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival.
In view of the Lijiang incident, all athletes on the team are now required to return to their rooms by 10 p.m.
But on Sunday, Wang Meng, Zhou Yang and four other teammates returned to the dorm at about 11 p.m. after a night of drinking.
When team manager Wang Chunlun went to talk to Wang Meng about the curfew violation, the conversation turned into a brawl.
After coaches pulled the two apart, Wang went on to vent her anger by trashing the apartment and injured her hands. Wang was then sent to the hospital.
The summer training camp was forced to close ahead of schedule due to the incident.
The team, which gained notoriety after taking four gold medals at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver last year, started summer training in Qingdao, Shandong Province, about a month ago.
