Romania will host the 2026 European Men's Handball Youth Championship in Cluj-Napoca and Turda, the general secretary of the Romanian Handball Federation (FRH), Nicolae Luca, announced on Wednesday.
This will mark the second major European handball event in 2026 to take place in Romania, alongside the Women's Senior European Championship, which the country will co-host with the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Türkiye.
FRH President Constantin Din highlighted the importance of the men's youth championship for building a solid foundation for the senior national team, expressing confidence in the upcoming generation's potential.
During his tenure, Din has secured four major European handball events for Romania, including the Women's Youth European Championship held in Pitesti and Craiova in 2022.
The Romanian men's senior team will also participate in a preparation tournament in Spain in January 2025, facing top-level teams like Norway and Egypt.
