Unbeatable diving queen Guo Jingjing breezily won the women's three-meter springboard individual event in Jinan, East China on Wednesday at the two-day 2008 Olympic Diving Qualifier.
The world and Olympic champion showed her absolute dominance in women's three-meter diving as she collected a total of 403.20 points from five spectacular dives.?
"I was not quite in form," said the diving queen, who caught a cold these days. "Being sick did affect my performance today, but I thought it was OK."
"Maybe it is because I had played many games and have lots of experiences, so I could control myself quite well." Guo added.
He Zi, silver medalist in the event in Doha Asian Games, trailed at 382.05 to finish second.
Li Ting, gold medalist of the women's 10-meter platform synchronized diving in Athens, trailed Guo in the first three rounds, but she made a mistake in the fourth round and only managed to take the bronze at 346.70 points.
In men's event, Wang Feng of Shandong Province clinched the gold of three-meter springboard diving at his hometown.
The Shandong veteran, winner of the men's three-meter springboard synchronized diving in 2007 Worlds, collected a total of 542.55 points from six well-performed dives to win the gold, leaving He Chong of Guangdong Province fall behind at 535.40 points.
"It is my best performance," said Wang. "I felt a little nervous to compete at my hometown."
He, winner of the 2007 national championships, chased tightly in the last three rounds that he made an almost perfect performance in his last dive which scored 98.80 points, the highest score on Wednesday's final, but still could not surpass the Shandong native.
Qin Kai of Shanxi Province, 22, winner of the event in 2007 Melbourne World Championships and 2006 diving World Cup, trailed at 522.45 points to take the bronze.
Peng Bo, gold medalist of the event in Athens, only managed to finish fifth.
