China's two-time world champion Fan Kexin crashed out of the women's short track 500 meters semifinal at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games on Thursday.
Fan, favored to win China's first gold medal here, fell soon after start and finished last and failed to enter the evening's final.
Britain's Elise Christie won the group which had three Chinese skaters.
Fan's teammate Li Jianrou finished second to become the only Chinese to qualify for the final.
