Michael Kadoorie & family
Michael Kadoorie, a business executive and philanthropist, is the chairman of CLP Holdings, the largest supplier of electricity in Hong Kong. The company said in December that it reached an agreement with the New South Wales government in Australia to buy state-owned Energy Australia's retailing business. He with brother-in-law owns major stakes in the listed Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels. Kadoorie is the scion of a family of Iraqi Jews who made an early fortune in Shanghai a century ago and later settled in Hong Kong.
