Although Hong Kong is not the biggest city in China, it is the richest one.
According to Hong Kong' 40 Richest of 2011 published by Forbes earlier this year, the 40 richest people in Hong Kong are worth $163 billion, up from $135 billion but still below the 2008 peak of $178 billion. By comparison, the 40 richest on the Chinese mainland are worth $137 billion.
In this year's ranking, Li Ka-shing, Kwok family, and Lee Shau Kee are the richest individuals in Hong Kong.
