Xianning City, Hubei Province 湖北咸寧
Xianning, a city best-known for its sweet osmanthus, Phyllostachys pubescens, tea, ramie and hot springs, is located 80 kilometers southeast of Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province. The local residents began to utilize the hot springs early in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The city has a total of seven natural hot springs: Xianning Hot Spring in the city proper, Wuhong Mountain Hot Spring in Chibi City, Langkou Hot Spring in Chongyang County, Xikengtan Hot Spring and Louxia Hot Spring in the famous Taoist Jiugong Mountain Scenic Spot of Tongshan County, Chapu Hot Spring in Tongcheng County, and Shewu Mountain Hot Spring in Jiayu County. Of the ample choice of spa resorts and hotels available to tourists, the most popular ones include the Sanjiang Forest Spa Hotel, Hanshang Xianning Spa Resort, Tongsheng Taiyi International Spa Resort, Wanhao Hot Spring Valley, and Chutian Yaochi Spa Resort.
