Born in 1944, Li Rongrong devotes most of his life to China's state-owned enterprises. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) was established in 2003. Under the leadership of Li, SASAC became an important player in the reform of China's political and economic structure in only five years of its establishment. Thanks to his efforts, the number of Chinese state-owned enterprises included in Fortune's Global 500 rose from 16 in 2006 to 38 in 2011. During that time, Li promoted the restructuring of many state-owned enterprises and extended the corporate incentive system for their employees.
