Maurice is a tale of homosexual love in early 20th century England. Two young men, Clive and Maurice, fall in love with each other. However, they are members of society's upper class, which prevents them from displaying their affections. So Clive gives up Maurice in order to pursue his promising future. The heartbroken Maurice meets Alec Scudder, an under-gamekeeper, and falls in love with him. But, as they belong to different classes, their love experiences a lot of tests. Although the father of Scudder asks him to go back to Argentina, he refuses and stays at the small boathouse waiting for Maurice. The film won Best Actor, Best Director and Best Music at the Venice Film Festival.
