Aung San Suu Kyi is the chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Burma. She is a politician who advocates non-violence and democracy, receiving the Rafto Prize and the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990, as well as the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991.
She is now the most popular and influential Burmese, also affectionately known as "the Lady." She charms the crowds with her poise, grace and her traditional, colorful anyi (blouse) and longyi (sarong or skirt). She now has even become a fashion trend-setter among younger generations, reversing a shift toward Western-style clothes.
