With e-government becoming more and more accepted, many governments use modern design and technology to enhance their online presence and benefit their people. China's local governments are no exception to this rule. They publish up-to-date and authoritative information, provide services to the public, and even exchange ideas with netizens, giving the public easy access to the governments.
China.org.cn has ranked China's government websites according to the comprehensive ranking published by Chinarank.org.cn, a grading program conducted by the Internet Society of China. The comprehensive ranking is mainly based on the average numbers of unique visitors per million Internet users per day and average page views within the past three months. The websites' backgrounds, brands, profits and user experiences have not been taken into consideration.
Following are the ten most popular provincial government websites on the Chinese mainland over the three months ending February 28.
