Located on Snake Hill of Wuchang, the Yellow Crane Tower is known as one of the Three Famous Towers South of the Yangtze River -- together with Yueyang Tower in Hunan and Tengwang Tower in Jiangxi. First built in 223 A.D., during the Three Kingdoms period (220-280), it has been destroyed multiple times; its current structure was rebuilt in 1981. Covering a construction area of 3,219 square meters, the five-story building goes up to a height of 51.4 meters. It is covered with more than 100,000 yellow glazed tiles, which give the tower a majestic glow in good weather conditions. It is now regarded as the symbol of Wuhan city.
