Containing two presidents, two governors, one Supreme Court justice, two U.S. senators and several bankers and businessmen, the Bush family is unquestionably a prominent American family in politics and finance. The founding patriarch of the family is the successful industrialist Samuel Prescott Bush (1863–1948). He was the father of U.S. Senator Prescott Bush, and grandfather of America's 41st President George H. W. Bush. His great-grandson George W. Bush served as the 43rd president of the United States from January 20, 2001 to January 20, 2009.
