The Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm and business strategy adviser, recently released its latest Sustainable Economic Development Assessment, which names the world's current leading countries in terms of citizens' well-being.
The report analyzes a range of social and economic indicators to measure the relative well-being of citizens in 149 countries and assess these countries' performance in converting wealth into well-being. Each country in the report received a score for both its citizens' current well-being and the country's progress in improving and supporting citizens' well-being in recent years.
More than half of the world's population lives in countries that are weak and falling behind the rest of the world in four key sustainability measures: income equality, civil society, governance, and environment. Nine of the ten countries with the highest current SEDA scores are in Western Europe.
The following are the 10 best-performing countries in terms of citizens' well-being.
Current score: 89.9
Recent progress score: 73.3
