Sardinia, located on the southwest Apennine Peninsula, is the second largest island in the Mediterranean and an autonomous region of Italy. It is not as famous as Sicily, but it is a hot holiday resort for celebrities and stars. July to August is the peak tourist season. As a costly place, the island often scares away the tourists whose purses are not big enough in terms of spending money.
