The British Nature Publishing Group has recently announced the Nature Index 2017 Tables, which reveal the rankings of leading institutions in the world.
The results are based on a weighted fractional count (WFC) with data collected from December 1, 2015 - November 30, 2016.
According to the Nature Index data, the WFC of all research outputs for China in the period reached 6,472.68.
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which is comprised of over 100 research institutes, 12 branch academies and 3 universities throughout the country, takes the first placein the ranking of China's institutions, followed by Peking University and Nanjing University.
The Nature Index is a database of author affiliation information sourced from research articles published in an independently selected group of 68 high-quality science journals. It provides an almost real-time proxy for high-quality research output at the institutional, national and regional levels.
