Who earned the most in 2016? A ranking of Chinese stars based on their income has been released by Jiemian.com and Toutiao.com.
With a minimum cut-off point of about 25 million yuan, or US$3.64 million, the list includes 100 Chinese celebrities. The total wealth of these 100 individuals amounted to roughly US$7.1 billion last year.
Actress Fan Bingbing topped the list with a yearly income of 244 million yuan (US$35.42 million) in 2016. Actor and singer Lu Han ranked second with an income of 181.6 million yuan (US$26.36 million), followed by singer Jay Chou with an income of 181.5 million yuan (US$26.35 million).
The list covers the most active and successful celebrities in China, including singers, actors, directors, scriptwriters, hosts, authors, artists and sports stars. The list takes into account remuneration made from movies, TV shows, digital albums, concerts, competitions, endorsements and events in 2016, and excludes their investments and operating incomes.
