Fortune magazine recently released its 18th list of the most powerful women in business outside the United States. Fifty talented and successful global businesswomen from 19 countries and a variety of industries made the list. Among them, 14 were from China.
The four-year reign of Banco Santander Executive Chair Ana Botin ended with GlaxoSmithKline CEO Emma Walmsley occupying the top spot this year.
According to Fortune, the criteria for compiling the list include the size and importance of the woman’s business in the global economy; the health and direction of the business; the arc of the woman’s career (résumé and runway ahead), and social and cultural influence.
