# Mobile World Congress
The 2020 edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) was canceled because of fears over COVID-19, just days before it was due to open on Feb. 24 in Barcelona, Spain.
The global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concerns, and other circumstances make it impossible for the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) to hold the event, according to a statement issued by GSMA, an industry group that organizes the gathering.
The world's largest trade show for the mobile phone industry draws more than 100,000 participants from across the world annually to check out the latest innovations, pitch to investors, and do deals.
