Qinghai Expo spotlights folk culture

The northwestern Qinghai Province is highlighted at the World Expo this week. Not only is the province showing off its distinctive folk culture, Qinghai is also focusing on how to solve the water crisis.
Qinghai, known as the water source of China, holds the origin of the country's three major rivers: the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Lancang River. Protection on water sources also inspires the design of the Qinghai pavilion, which declares that a well-preserved water resource is a must for any city's sustainable development.
Inside the pavilion, Qinghai displays its rich folk culture to the Expo visitors. Mud sculpture, paper-cuts, Tibetan Tanghka, embroidery it's a long list to complete. But those traditional art forms give a vivid picture of life in Qinghai.
Tanghka Artist, said, "It's the first time to display this piece to the public. It took one year and one month to finish. These lines are made in gold thread. All the material comes from minerals. Even with the same material, the skills to make it varies in different areas. "
Qinghai week runs for five days at the Shanghai World Expo.
