Due to the warming global tourism market, the total inbound and outbound visitors to Hainan Province reached 832,000 in the whole year of 2010 and the figure rose by 22.1 percent year-on-year. The total number of mainland visitors reached 100,000 and rose by 54.8 percent year-on-year.

In 2010 Haikou Meilan Immigration Inspection Station has seen four trends: mainland visitors with stronger will to travel to Hainan Island; number of visitors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan increased and Taiwan visitors reached over 56,000; inbound visitors from abroad have increased fast and they mainly travel for leisure; flight numbers in Haikou reach a new high.
