The smiling Buddha sculpture |
Staff members of the museum said the two-ton stone Buddha head, dating back to the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420-589), was first unearthed 1979 together with a well-reserved, beautifully-curved stele and then was put away in the storeroom due to a limited exhibition area.
The sculpture is 132 cm in height, 78 cm in width and 79 cm in thickness.
