A recent online post about the future opening of a Hello Kitty theme restaurant in Beijing received so many views that it has become the second most popular page on a local magazine's website.
Time Out's website cited a report from Sina Weibo, China's most popular microblogging platform, which said the restaurant would be located in the Shimao Department Store in the capital's Sanlitun area and decorated in the brand's usual pink glamour.
It also noted that the website of the Hello Kitty Dreams Restaurant is under construction, and the restaurant has begun employing wait staff.
The Japanese cartoon cat has a huge number of fans in China. The Weibo post claimed the eatery would be Asia's first Hello Kitty theme restaurant. It also featured photos of a Hello Kitty Café in an unidentified Asian city.
The restaurant is scheduled to open this month in Beijing, according to the Time Out report.
