Yinchuan City saw the recent launching of 123 community vegetable outlets, offering customers vegetables at prices 20 percent below local market prices due to direct deliveries from local vegetable farms. Another 12 such outlets are scheduled to open before Chinese Spring Festival, according to the local commerce bureau. The community outlets enable Yinchuan residents to buy fresh and cheap vegetables in their communities, according to bureau director Guo Yong. Four leading vegetable distributors were successful with their bids to operate the outlets. The local commerce bureau is considering plans to introduce service centers and a telecommunications and broadband network which would allow local residents to purchase vegetables either online or over the phone.
