Peking Opera The Butterfly Romance is an adaption of Hong Kong-based writer Li Juming's Butterfly & Monk. Previously, it has been adapted to the Yue Opera version staged at Hong Kong and Hangzhou respectively. With butterfly as its epitome, the story tells the enigmatic love story between Prince Zhenru of late Tang Dynasty and Ning Xiang, daughter of the Prime Minister. Now, Li Hongtu, President of Mei Lanfang Troupe of Peking Opera Theater of Beijing, disciple and successor of Ye Shaolan (the founder of Ye School Peking Opera), and Guo Wei, excellent young artist and married female character performer of Cheng School, will play the hero and heroine to re-interpret this romantic and aesthetic 'New' Peking Opera.
