Government officials of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, listened to a progress report of the city's exhibition design and pavilion construction for its Urban Best Practices Area display at Expo 2010 on Thursday.
Shanghai's neighboring city will showcase its water control practices and let visitors experience the charm of water via advanced technologies.
Hangzhou Party chief Wang Guoping ordered the city to spare no efforts in its Expo showcase, which will fuel Hangzhou's "going global" strategy and raise its profile.
The city should further polish its plan to present the most impressive show and promote the image of a quality city to the world, Wang noted.
The exhibit should highlight how water treatment has helped achieve a better life, Wang said.
The project, "Harnessing Five Waters," involves Hangzhou's West Lake, the Qiantang River, canals, the Xixi Wetland and the East China Sea.
