The UK pavilion is finished and ready for visitors, British Ambassador to China Sebastian Wood said Tuesday.
"It's a beautiful building, and for us it's more than a building," Wood said. "It communicates something about the UK. It says that UK is not just about history and tradition, it's also about youth, creativity and innovation."
Wood said visitors can look forward to an extraordinary design that reflects the balance between urbanization and nature. They can use the pavilion as a place to reflect and relax and treat it as an urban park in the expo.
Senior British officials will attend the pavilion's opening ceremony, though ministers will remain in the UK for the general election. Celebrity guests have yet to be confirmed.
"The pavilion will be a powerful symbol of modern UK and British economy to the new generation of Chinese," Wood said.
