You don't have to be another Jimi Hendrix or Joe Satriani to play the guitar well. With a wild enough imagination and agile movements, you can be a rock star too. I'm talking about playing air guitar.
Now, the Air Guitar World Championship is being featured at the Finland Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo.
Backed by the deafening sounds of heavy metal, a "rock star" electrifies the performing venue with exaggerated strumming and picking motions.
The performer seems so lost in his own imaginary riffs.
Performing on stage is Eero Ojala, the champion of the Finland competition zone of the Air Guitar World Championship. He said that the global event aims at raising more public concerns about world peace. In between performances, he even gave instructions to spectators how to play an air guitar.
The event is held annually in Oulu of Finland, a fast developing city with a wide creative streak. Representatives from the city are visiting the Shanghai World Expo in hopes to establish sister city status with Hangzhou of East China's Zhejiang Province.
"Oulu and Hangzhou will later be collaborating on a long term in various fields including high tech, environmental protection, education and tourism."
