Haining Yanguan County on September 24 welcomed nearly 70 Expo participants by inviting them to enjoy tide watching at Qiantang River, visit Haining Museum and feel the Chinese culture.
It was the best time to watch tides at Qiantang River, one of the biggest ones in the world, as yesterday was August 16 on Chinese Lunar Calendar. Visitors were looking forward to the biggest tide in recent years. Expo participants from different countries were excited as the great sight came at noon. Many posed for pictures in front of the big tide.
They watched the shadow play and the exhibition of Xiashi flower lanterns at Haining Museum. Sencar Ozsoy, the Commissioner General of Turkey Pavilion, said Turkey also had similar shadow plays only with different music and story plots. It was possible that the arts had been introduced to Turkey along the Silk Road via Egypt, said Sencar Ozsoy.
Shen Linong, Major of Haining Municipal and Deputy Party Secretary of Haining Municipal Committee, and Huang Yaocheng, Counselor for national participation with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, attended the event.
