The number of visitors to the Shanghai World Expo has topped 70 million. The previous record was set at the 1970 Osaka World Expo in Japan, with 64 million visitors.
About 450 thousand visitors entered the Expo Park by 11 a.m. Sunday, the 177th day of the event. That's when the figure hit the 70-million mark. Attendance continues to be high, during the final days, setting a single-day record for maximum attendance on October the 16th with 1.03 million people.
